VISA'S
CLIENTS RECKON VIETNAM WORTH VISITING
Almost a third of 5,000 international travelers
polled (31%) consider that Vietnam will be one
of their next travel destinations in the next
two years, according to a
report by Visa International Asia Pacific
Association and Pacific Asia Travel Association
(PATA) published in the “Asia Travel Intentions
Survey 2007”. In the same survey in 2006, this
figure was just 24%, an increase of 7% in just
one year.
According to this year’s poll, the top five
reasons to visit Vietnam are low cost goods and
services (49%), the natural beauty of the
country (44%), Vietnamese culture (41%),
adventure tourism (38%), and friendly local
people (35%).
As of May 2007, Vietnam attracted 1.8 million
international tourists, a 12.4% increase over
the same period last year.

“Vietnam
gains attentions as new outsourcing hub”
was the title of an article published in
the Wall Street Journal on 29 May.
The article, by James Hookway, stated that due
to Vietnam’s low wages, improving
English-language skills and technical
proficiency, the country became the top
contender when British recruitment agency Harvey
Nash PLC began scouting for an offshore hub for
its new software-development business six years
ago. The article also highlighted that the FPT
Software – Harvey Nash alliance gave Vietnam a
competitive edge, when outsourcing wages and
job-hopping were on the rise in India.
