 FPT SOFTWARE EUROPE INAUGURATION
|
On 13th
June 2008, FPT Software Europe Ltd. (FEU) held its opening
ceremony in Paris with the participation of senior leaders
from FPT and FPT Software and representatives from FPT
Software’s customers. The event marks an important advance
for FPT Software into the European market and reflects an
important global trend as corporations seek out partners
with both high technical capacity and also the ability to
provide services to customers on site at a competitive price.
FPT
Software Europe was established to seize business
opportunities brought about by the growing waves of software
outsourcing coming from Europe, the largest IT market in the
world, and also to provide better services to FPT Software’s
existing customers in the region.
This
establishment of FPT Software Europe featured heavily in
Vietnamese newspapers after the announcement was made in a
press conference on 4th June 2008.

FIS: STRONG INNOVATION |
|
From
July 1st 2008, FPT Information Systems (FIS) is going to
operate under a new general corporate structure with the
establishment of seven new subsidiary companies. This
innovation aims to make FIS even more flexible and reduce
the workload of FIS’s senior leaders.
The
seven newly and soon-to-be established companies are FPT ERP
Services Limited Company (FPT-IS-ERP), FPT Information
System Services Limited Company (FPT-IS-SRV), FPT
Information Systems Telecom & Government Limited Company (FPT-IS-TEG),
FPT Information Systems of Financing and Banking Services
Company Limited (FPT-IS-Bank), FPT FSE Information Systems
Company Limited (FPT IS FSE), FPT Public Finance Solutions
Company Limited (FPT IS PFS) and FPT Software Development
Company Limited (FPT IS Soft).

FPT BECOMES YAHOO'S ADVERTISING AGENT
|

FPT Online
Advertising Services Company (FPT Ads), a subsidiary of FPT
Telecom, has officially become Yahoo’s advertising agent in
Southeast Asia in May 2008. FPT Ads will supply all Yahoo’s
advertising products on Yahoo’s global and Vietnam systems
such as Yahoo main pages, Yahoo Messenger and Yahoo News
Vietnam, Yahoo Music Vietnam, Yahoo question & answer, Yahoo
Flickr, Yahoo Mail and Yahoo Finance.
According
to research from Yahoo, Vietnam’s online advertising market
has great potential because of its absolute advantage in
creating an effective reaction between audiences and
advertising templates and the boom of multimedia
technology. |

ENGLISH CONTEST |
|
Studying
English is fun; this is evidenced by the English Contest
which has just been organized by Operational Group 2 (G2).
G2 staff
gathered in teams of five and participated in the Contest
through two rounds. The first round comprised of four mini
tests covering listening, grammar, idioms and vocabulary in
a week. The six teams with the highest scores qualified for
the final round which consisted of a series of interacting
games. The juries for the final round were special guests
from Tripwire – a traditional partner of G2.
English
training has recently become one of G2’s priorities as this
Business Unit is striving to expand its English speaking
markets. |

 VIETNAM: THE BEST DESTINATION FOR UK
INVESTORS
|
|
According to an article titled “Hanoi rocks” that appeared
in Director Magazine earlier this month, Vietnam is bound to
surpass China as the most attractive country in Asia for UK
investors to set up business. “A vibrant economy,” “a highly
educated labor pool,” “low operational costs” and “a booming
retail sector” are prime factors that made Vietnam a better
choice than China or India, reported Tina Nielson.
According to Mr. Paul Smith, CEO of Offshore Software
Services of Harvey Nash "Vietnam is not just about cheap
labor and footwear; it is a highly educated country, which
is just galloping ahead".
The
statement was evidenced with the case of Harvey Nash. First
coming to Vietnam in 2006, Harvey Nash now employs about
2500 Vietnamese workers, running business process
outsourcing services to both UK and US customers, an
important partner of FPT Software.

MICROSOFT'S FIRST INNOVATION CENTER OPENED
IN VIETNAM |

On May 30th, 2008 the Microsoft Innovation Center was
established in Vietnam according to a contract signed by Mr.
Christophe Desriac, General Managing Director of Microsoft
in Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia, and Associate professor Dr.
Vu Duc Thi, Director of the Information and Technology
Institute.
The center is responsible for research and development of
software solutions and solutions for E-Government. It will
also create a platform for universities to share their
experiences, bringing about many business opportunities for
partners as well as professional opportunities for students,
and simultaneously bringing many innovative solutions to
both government and customers.

HOA LAC HI-TECH TO BE EXPANDED |
|
Prime
Minster Nguyen Tan Dung has given the OK to expand Hoa Lac
Hi-tech Park, one of the largest industrial park projects in
Vietnam. The extended areas include two more communes of Ha
Tay Province and the total area will now be approx 1,568 ha.
The park
has specific zones for sci-tech activities, residential
areas, offices, entertainment and sports facilities, of
which the hi-tech zone
will
take up the largest area in the park (35%).
In March
2006, FPT Corporation was assigned as the Development
Company for the Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park by the Government.

VIETNAM: UNIDEN'S LARGEST SITE FOR TELEPHONE
PRODUCTION |
|
Uniden, a
global telephone producer has just kicked off the trial run
of its wireless phone manufacturing factory in Vietnam. The
factory has the capacity to produce 1 million phones per
year and will require up to 7,000 workers. Half the products
manufactured in Vietnam will be exported to North America
where Uniden currently occupies 30% market share.
With
total investment of US$45 million the Uniden factory was
built in 2007 covering an area of 80,000 square meters.
Vietnam has practically become the largest manufacturing
country for Uniden.

| KEEPING FPT SOFTWARE STAFF SAFE ON THEIR SUMMER
HOLIDAY |

As the
company’s summer vacation is fast approaching, the Youth
Union organized a Seminar on first aid and how to handle
emergency cases on June 6th, 2008, in order to
prepare for an exciting and safe holiday for FPT Software
staff.
FPT
Software staff are entitled to a 5-day summer holiday either
in June or July provided they go with at least 4 other FPT
Software staff. The Summer holiday is therefore a precious
opportunity not only for FPT Software staff to network with
each other but also to relax after a hard working time. |
| HUE IN THE FESTIVE SEASON |
|
Starting
from June 3rd and lasting for nine days, Hue
Festival 2008 impressed both local and international guests
with its authentic performances and showcased the beauty of
Vietnamese, and in particular Hue, culture. This was billed
as one of the year’s largest festivities in the country and
the grandest of all since Hue started to host its biennial
festivals in 2000.
This
year, guests and visitors could also enjoy international
shows performed by many renowned artists from various
countries from Asia, Europe and America.
Hue
Festival 2008 is not only a cultural event to revive the
distinctive culture of Vietnam, but also an opportunity to
give the world some insights into the beauty of our way of
life.
