International Flight

Vietnam Airlines and several other airline agencies operate international flights to Hanoi from many countries such as Australia, China, France, Germany, Great Britain, Japan, Korea, Russia, Taiwan, U.A.E/Emirates, US, and Southeast Asian countries. Vietnam Airlines can reach 24 international destinations worldwide with its fleet of 36 modern airplanes. The international airport for Hanoi is Noi Bai. Flight schedules and other information can be seen at the websites of Yahoo Travel, Vietnam Airlines, Japan Airlines, Korean Air, Cathay Pacific Airways, China Airlines, Singapore Airlines, Thai Airways, Air France, and so forth.

Going to downtown

Driving from Noi Bai Airport to Hanoi City takes about 45 minutes at a cost of about USD 10 for Airport Taxis or USD 4 for Airport Minibus.

Visa

Citizens of all ASEAN countries do not need a visa to enter Vietnam for a temporary visit (up to 30 days). Likewise, citizens of Japan, South Korea, Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland do not require visas for a temporary visit to Vietnam for 15 days or less.

Other foreign travelers are required to obtain a visa prior entering Vietnam. We will provide an invitation letter to all registered participants. The usual time to obtain a temporary visit to Vietnam is about 1 week. For further information, please click here.

Banking and Currency

Currency in Vietnam is the Vietnamese Dong (VND) and the Currency Exchange Rate can be checked here. Most banks' opening hours are 8 am - 11:30 am and some are open from 1pm to 5pm, on weekdays only.

ANZ Bank and Vietcombank operate 24-hour ATMs, dispensing Dong only, at most branches nationwide. Many banks provide cash advance services for Visa and Master cards, usually at a rate of 3% commission. Some travelers cafes provide this service daily at higher rates. Major credit cards are now accepted in most tourist destinations.
